Hytera TC-508 Portable Handheld Analog Radio (UHF 400–470 MHz)
The Hytera TC-508 is a portable handheld analog radio for UHF 400–470 MHz land mobile operation. At 287g with battery and antenna, it delivers 4W output across 256 channels in 32 zones — with full front panel programming, DTMF Select Call, and a 1650mAh battery rated for 12 hours at 5:5:90 duty cycle. Built to MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F, the TC-580 UHF suits commercial and light industrial teams in indoor environments where UHF penetration through steel-frame structures and concrete floors is a practical requirement.
Why Professionals Choose the Hytera TC-508 UHF
The TC-508 is a portable handheld radio — 117×53×36mm, 287g with the 1650mAh battery and antenna — for teams operating on UHF frequencies in commercial and light industrial environments. The 36mm chassis depth keeps the radio compact for belt-clip carry, while the full numeric keypad provides direct on-radio access to all programming functions without a PC or cable on site. UHF 400–470 MHz is the standard choice for indoor deployments — retail floors, warehouses, hospitality properties, and manufacturing facilities — where the shorter wavelength navigates steel-frame structures and multi-floor concrete layouts more effectively than VHF.
RF output is 4W (Hi) / 1W (Lo) on UHF 400–470 MHz with 12.5 kHz channel spacing, compliant with FCC Part 90 narrowband requirements. Channel capacity is 256 across 32 zones. Front panel programming covers nearly all radio parameters — frequency, CTCSS/CDCSS tones, squelch levels — directly from the keypad, reducing dependence on programming equipment during field deployment or re-channeling.
Signaling covers CTCSS, CDCSS, DTMF Select Call with caller ID, 2-Tone, and 5-Tone. Display Reverse rotates the LCD 180 degrees for easy reading when the radio is holstered or mounted. Emergency Alarm sends an alert to the control center or a designated radio via a dedicated button.
Battery life is 12 hours on the BL1719 1650mAh Li-Ion pack at 5:5:90 duty cycle. The optional BL1301 1300mAh battery reduces weight for shorter-shift operations. The chassis meets MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F for shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity.
Optional analog voice scrambler provides basic audio privacy. FCC Part 90 certified for UHF land mobile operation.

FCC Licensing and Compliance Support
Operating a professional two-way radio on UHF land mobile frequencies in the United States requires an FCC license under Part 90. The Hytera TC-508 UHF is FCC Part 90 certified for land mobile use on 400–470 MHz. A Business Radio License (or appropriate Industrial/Business Pool authorization) is required before the radio can transmit on any licensed frequency.
The TC-508 operates at 12.5 kHz channel spacing, compliant with current FCC Part 90 narrowband requirements. Front panel programming allows field modification of CTCSS/CDCSS tones and squelch settings without a PC — helpful when deploying across multiple sites with different tone plans or when licensed frequencies change.
The DTMF Select Call and optional analog scrambler on the TC-508 operate within the standard analog FM channel. They do not constitute encryption and do not require additional FCC authorization beyond the standard Part 90 land mobile license.
As an authorized Hytera dealer, AXDIGITAL assists customers with FCC Part 90 licensing guidance, frequency coordination, and radio programming for commercial and light industrial deployments.

FAQ
Can the TC-508 be programmed without a PC?
Yes. The TC-580 supports full front panel programming via the numeric keypad — nearly all parameters including frequency, CTCSS/CDCSS tones, squelch levels, and channel names can be configured directly on the radio without a cable or laptop. PC programming via the PC19 or PC26 cable is also available for batch fleet configuration.
Does the TC-508 have encryption?
No. The TC-508 is an analog radio and does not support digital encryption. The optional analog scrambler (voice inversion) provides basic audio privacy by making transmissions unintelligible on radios not set to the same scrambler code — but it is not encryption. Teams requiring AES digital encryption should consider the Hytera PD785 UHF DMR portable.
What is the difference between the TC-508 UHF and TC-580 VHF?
Frequency band and TX power only. The UHF version covers 400–470 MHz at 4W; the VHF version covers 136–174 MHz at 5W. Receiver specs also differ slightly — UHF sensitivity is ≤0.28 μV vs VHF ≤0.25 μV, and UHF selectivity is 50 dB vs VHF 70 dB. All other specs — channel capacity, battery, dimensions, and features — are identical. Choose UHF for indoor environments; choose VHF for open outdoor coverage.
