Will the AN0141H06 work on any VHF radio?
Not on every VHF radio. It is tuned for the 136–147 MHz low band. If your radios are programmed in a higher VHF sub-range, such as 150–174 MHz, this antenna raises SWR and cuts range. For those fleets, use the matching upper-band antenna. Check the programmed frequency, not just the VHF label, before ordering.
Why use a narrow-band antenna instead of a wideband one?
A narrow-band antenna is tuned to one VHF segment, 136–147 MHz. Within that segment it holds a lower SWR and radiates more transmit power, which gives better range. A wideband antenna covers more of the band but is a compromise, with a looser match and lower efficiency at any frequency. Fit the sub-band antenna when the fleet runs inside 136–147 MHz; choose wideband only when channels span several VHF sub-ranges.
