How long does the BL2018 take to charge?
On the OEM rapid-rate charger, the BL2018 reaches a full charge in about 3 hours from empty. The CH10L23 single charger and the six-bay MCL19 both use MCU-controlled smart charging, which tapers current near the top to protect the cells. Expect longer if the pack is cold, or if it charges through a radio left powered on.
Is the BL2018 a higher-capacity replacement for the BL1506 that ships with BD5 radios?
Yes. BD5i radios ship with the 1500 mAh BL1506 as the standard pack. The BL2018 is the 2000 mAh high-capacity version — about a third more runtime in the same footprint. It fits the same BD502i, BD552i and BD612i bays and the same CH10L23 charger, at the same 7.2 V. No radio or charger change is needed to upgrade.
